Let’s Colour Up Their Life!

Posted by admin 18 - July - 2008

Once again, with the full support of The Humanity Forum (THF), W3-O Design Lab Singapore
is launching its new internal charity drive – “Let’s Colour Up Their Life”. The objective of this year’s charity drive is to help the children of Living the Gospel Community (Cebu Island, Phillipines). They’ve been living in “Black & White” as they constantly need to struggle to get through their days without sufficient supply of books, stationery, and even clothes and
food. With 9 sisters and 2 lay staffs, Living the Gospel has been supporting all the educational needs of 305 kids ranging from the age of 9 -18 years old (169 in high school and 136 in elementary school). Most of them come from poor families whose parents are working as fishermen, construction workers, labourers and carpenters.

Both THF and W3-O are hoping to be able to raise some funds within our circles of friends and colleagues so as to able to help them live a better life. Sister Leslie, our main contact person in Living the Gospel, indicates the below items as what these children would need:
– School bags, school supplies, books, umbrella, raincoats, school shoes, rubber shoes, musical instruments, computer
– Used clothing, food, canned goods
– Study center

2 main activities have been planned by W3-O staffs to help raise the necessary funds by selling cookies and ex-photography props. Both activities were wholly initiated, produced and coordinated by these creative people.
Despite not being their “cup of tea”, the cookies have been very well received. A big thanks goes out to whole team for their dedication. Grace Tan, the main coordinator of the fund raising, stated that they are targeting to sell at least 200 jars of cookies. The profits from each jar of cookies will allow them to sponsor half a pair of shoes for the kids. The Humanity Forum encourages all their supporters to support this activity.

Besides selling cookies, the sale of ex-photography props has become one of the main activities. All the furniture and props are donated by W3-O Design Lab. Most of them are practically new while some are used only once for their commercial photography. THF is providing the platform for the sales through our “Shop for Humanity”. Kindly check out this site as you might find great bargains and at the same time, support them for their fund raising activities.

THF and W3-O Design Lab are planning to visit the kids of Living Gospel Community in early August 2008. With this visit, we are hoping to be able to bring the goods raised from this charity drive and pass them directly to the organisation and children. At the same time, we are planning a few activities like arts & crafts and drawings to liven up their day. With this visit, we really hope that we can colour up their life. If you would like to support this drive, please kindly contact any of our members or at willy[at]thehumanityforum.org
