An ad hoc humanitarian team lead by Johnny W. Utama based in Jakarta – Indonesia. Team 9 is one of the most efficient and effective humanitarian teams because:
– our volunteers are mostly invited according to what they can contribute to the missions
– our missions are always equipped with simple, clear, and effective work plan.
– each mission span only 7 to 10 days long to keep the focus sharp.
The Formation of TEAM 9
In 26 December 2004, a 9.1 magnitude earthquake shook the bottom of Indian Ocean and caused a tsunami. At least 200,000 lives were swept along with its powerful force and 150,000 people went missing. The world was at shock.
On the east part of Indonesia, Aceh Province was one of the worst affected areas by this Tsunami. The whole city was flattened to the ground; villages evaporated; families were eradicated in split seconds.
9 people from different professions and walk of lives, initiated by Johnny W. Utama, decided to join hand and took a break from their daily live and helped. Packed with first aids and cash, all nine of them went to Aceh.
This marked the birth of Team 9; and led the way for all the humanitarian missions afterwards
